What Is Discover Canada?
Discover Canada is the official study guide published by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The citizenship test is generally understood to cover topics from this guide, making it a key resource for anyone preparing for the test.
The guide is available on the IRCC website in both English and French. It can be read online or downloaded as a PDF. We recommend reading it at least once from cover to cover before starting focused practice.
Download the official guide: Visit the IRCC Discover Canada page to access the guide in English or French.

How to Use the Guide Effectively
The guide can be read in a few hours, but understanding and remembering all the details requires repeated study and practice. Here is a recommended approach:
Read it once from cover to cover
Get an overview of all topics. Highlight or underline key facts, dates, and names as you go.
Test yourself by category
Use our practice mode to test your knowledge on each category. This helps identify which sections of the guide you need to review again.
Re-read weak sections
Go back to the sections of Discover Canada that cover your weakest categories. Our explanations reference specific sections of the guide to help you find the right pages.
Take mock exams
Once you feel comfortable with all categories, take timed mock exams (20 questions, 45 minutes, 75% to pass) to gauge your overall readiness.
How CSTQ.ca Helps You Study the Guide
Our 800 practice questions cover topics from Discover Canada. Most questions include a detailed explanation that references the relevant section of the guide. This means you can use our practice platform as a companion to the guide — testing your knowledge after reading each section and quickly finding which parts to review when you get a question wrong.
Our questions are available in 80+ languages. If English or French is not your first language, you can enable your native language to appear below each question as a reference while you study in English or French.
