Terms of Service
Last updated: May 1, 2026
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS SERVICE.
These Terms contain important provisions that limit our liability, disclaim warranties, require you to indemnify us, restrict you from participating in class actions, and bind you to a specific governing law and forum. By accessing or using cstq.ca in any manner, including merely browsing, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree, do not access or use the service.
1. About This Service
CSTQ.ca ("we", "us", "our"), accessible at cstq.ca (operated from Canada), provides an independent online study tool. Our practice questions cover topics from publicly available study materials, including the Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship guide published by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with IRCC, the Government of Canada, or any government agency. The content of the actual citizenship test is determined solely by IRCC and may differ from our practice materials.
Our service is supplementary in nature and is not, and shall not be relied upon as, a substitute for the official IRCC study guide, official government materials, or any professional immigration, legal, or educational advice. Our service does not constitute legal, immigration, or professional advice, and your use of the service does not create any client-professional relationship between you and us. We are not licensed immigration consultants or lawyers.
2. No Guarantee of Exam Results
Our service is a study aid only. We do not guarantee any specific exam outcome. Any scores or performance metrics shown refer solely to your performance on our practice questions and should not be interpreted as a prediction of your actual test results.
3. Accounts and Authentication
You may create an account using a supported sign-in provider. You must provide accurate information and must not create accounts for fraudulent purposes.
You are responsible and liable for all activity occurring under your account, whether or not authorized by you. You agree to notify us immediately, through our contact page, of any suspected unauthorized access. Notification does not retroactively relieve you of liability for activity prior to notification.
We have no obligation to verify the identity of any person creating or using an account, to detect or prevent unauthorized access, or to maintain, restore, or recover any lost, locked, suspended, or terminated account.
4. Pricing and Payments
We offer a paid plan as a one-time purchase with 90 days of access from the date of purchase. Prices are displayed in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are subject to applicable taxes. By purchasing a plan, you agree to pay the amount displayed at the time of purchase.
Currency conversion and bank fees: If your payment card or financial institution operates in a currency other than CAD, any foreign-exchange conversion, cross-border, or bank processing fees are solely your responsibility, and we are not liable for any difference between the price displayed in CAD and the amount ultimately charged to you in your local currency.
By completing a purchase, you acknowledge and agree to our Refund Policy. Refunds are subject to the eligibility conditions described therein.
5. Free Service
All access to our service, other than access by a user while logged in with an active paid plan, constitutes use of the "Free Service". Advertisements may appear anywhere within the Free Service. The Free Service is provided strictly "as is" and "as available", and your use of the Free Service is at your sole risk.
No consideration; no positive obligation: You provide no consideration to us in exchange for the Free Service. Accordingly, we undertake and assume no obligation, duty, warranty, undertaking, or commitment of any kind toward you in respect of the Free Service, whether arising in contract, tort, statute, equity, or otherwise.
We do not select, review, endorse, control, or warrant any advertisement, advertiser, advertised product or service, or any content reached through any advertisement. You interact with advertisements entirely at your own risk, and we are not liable for any loss, damage, malware, fraud, deceptive practice, financial harm, data breach, or any other consequence of any kind arising from or connected to any advertisement or any interaction with advertisement-related content. Any dealing you enter into with any advertiser is solely between you and that advertiser.
Free mock exams: No answer review is provided in the Free Service.
6. Referral Discounts
From time to time, we may make available a referral or promotional discount program. Any such program is offered solely at our discretion and is subject to the following:
- Discounts have no cash value, are non-redeemable for cash, are non-transferable, and are not exchangeable for any other consideration;
- Discounts may not be combined, stacked, or used together with any other discount, promotion, or offer unless we expressly state otherwise;
- Self-referrals, circular referrals, fabricated referrals, the use of multiple accounts, automated tools, or any other manipulation of the program are strictly prohibited;
- We may, at our sole discretion and without notice, void, reverse, withhold, or invalidate any referral, discount, or related order that we determine, in our sole judgement, to be fraudulent, abusive, or in violation of these Terms, and any resulting order may be cancelled with no refund;
- We may modify, suspend, or terminate any referral or promotional program, in whole or in part, at any time, with or without notice, and without any liability to you whatsoever.
7. Translated Content
Our practice questions and website interface are provided in multiple languages and may contain translation errors. These Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and our practice content are authoritative in English and French. In the event of any discrepancy between the English or French version and any other language version, the English or French version shall prevail. You agree that you will not hold us liable for any consequences arising from reliance on translated content.
8. Intellectual Property
All practice questions, explanations, translations, and other content on this website are our intellectual property or are used under license. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, sell, or otherwise exploit our content without our prior written consent.
Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship is a publication of the Government of Canada, © His Majesty the King in Right of Canada, represented by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship. Our practice questions are original works covering topics discussed in the guide, not reproductions of government material.
All rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms are reserved by us.
9. Licence to Access
Your purchase grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable (in accordance with these terms) right to access our practice materials for the duration of your access period (90 days from the date of purchase). This is a licence to access a digital service, not a sale of goods. You do not acquire any ownership interest in the content.
Upon expiration or termination of your access period, your right to access the materials ceases and you must not retain any copies. This licence is personal to you and may not be shared, assigned, or sublicensed.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, harvest, or systematically download our question content or any other portion of the service;
- Share your account credentials with others;
- Use automated tools, bots, scripts, or any other software-driven means to access the service;
- Attempt to circumvent, disable, defeat, or otherwise interfere with our security measures, access controls, rate limits, or anti-abuse mechanisms;
- Redistribute, repost, mirror, or otherwise make available our content on any other platform, service, or medium;
- Use, ingest, copy, transmit, or process any of our content (including questions, answers, explanations, translations, and any other material) for the purpose of training, fine-tuning, evaluating, benchmarking, or developing any artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language model, or other automated system, whether commercial or non-commercial;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code, structure, or underlying logic of the service;
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service, or the data contained therein;
- Use the service in any manner that violates any applicable law or regulation.
Violation of these terms shall result in immediate account termination without refund, and may result in legal action.
11. Age Requirement
You must be at least the age of majority in your province or territory of residence to use this service and make a purchase. Use of this service by minors is not permitted.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CSTQ.ca shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of goodwill, loss of opportunity or chance, loss of reputation, mental distress or emotional injury, loss of use, loss of data, loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of anticipated savings, or business interruption, including but not limited to loss arising from your use of our service, your exam results, or any decisions made based on our content, whether such claim arises in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, strict liability, restitution, equity, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from or relating to your use of our service shall not exceed the total amount you actually paid to us for the service in the ninety (90) days preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Sole and exclusive remedy: Your sole and exclusive remedy for any dissatisfaction with the service is to discontinue use and, where applicable, request a refund pursuant to our Refund Policy.
Assumption of risk and release: To the maximum extent permitted by law, you acknowledge and assume all risk arising from your use of the service, and you hereby release, waive, and forever discharge CSTQ.ca, its operators, employees, contractors, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, damages, losses, costs, and expenses of any kind, whether known or unknown, arising from or relating to your use of the service.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
Our service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that our content is complete, accurate, up-to-date, or free of errors. We do not warrant that our practice questions will appear on the actual citizenship test. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to the service. Scheduled or unscheduled downtime may occur. We specifically disclaim all implied warranties, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Content accuracy: Without limitation, our content, including all questions, answers, explanations, hints, study notes, user interface text, and translations, may be created, generated, assisted, augmented, or otherwise produced by automated systems, including artificial intelligence and machine learning systems, and may contain factual inaccuracies, omissions, ambiguities, errors, outdated information, hallucinations, or other defects. You agree to independently verify any information before relying on it for any purpose, and you assume all risk arising from any reliance on our content.
14. Third-Party Services and Links
Our service may rely on third-party services and may contain links to, or display content from, third-party websites, services, products, or advertisements. We do not endorse, control, sponsor, or assume any responsibility for the availability, accuracy, content, products, services, practices, policies, security, or actions of any third party. Your access to, interaction with, transactions with, or reliance on any third party is solely between you and that third party, at your own risk, and is governed by their respective terms and policies.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CSTQ.ca, its operators, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, awards, settlements (including amounts paid in settlement), and costs and expenses of any kind, including without limitation reasonable legal fees on a solicitor-client basis, court costs, disbursements, expert witness fees, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, and any other costs of investigation or defence, arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the service, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
16. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure, delay, interruption, or degradation of the service due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: internet, telecommunications, or infrastructure outages; failures or disruptions of third-party services; natural disasters; epidemics or pandemics; war, hostilities, terrorism, civil unrest, or sabotage; labour disputes, strikes, or work stoppages; cyberattacks, denial-of-service attacks, malware, or unauthorized intrusions; legislative, regulatory, judicial, or governmental actions, orders, embargoes, or sanctions; power failures; and any other event of force majeure.
17. Termination and Account Deletion
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account, with or without notice, where we determine, in our reasonable discretion, that you have:
- breached these Terms;
- violated any applicable law;
- engaged in any fraudulent, abusive, or harmful conduct (including any chargeback or payment dispute that we determine to be unfounded or in bad faith);
- shared, transferred, sublicensed, sold, lent, or otherwise made your account, your account credentials, or any access thereto available to any other person;
- used your account or the service in any manner that conflicts with the personal, non-transferable nature of the licence granted in section 9; or
- otherwise misused the service.
Upon termination, your right to access paid content will cease immediately, and no refund will be issued for any unused portion of your access period, except as expressly provided in our Refund Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including those listed in section 27) will continue to apply.
Account deletion: If you delete your account while you have an active paid access period, your remaining access will be immediately terminated and no refund will be issued for the unused portion. Account deletion requests are final once submitted and are subject to our Privacy Policy.
18. Service Discontinuation
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, with or without notice, and without any liability to you whatsoever.
19. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, in our sole discretion. Modifications take effect immediately upon being posted to this page, evidenced by an updated "Last updated" date. You are solely responsible for reviewing these Terms periodically. Your continued access to or use of the service after any modification constitutes your binding acceptance of the modified Terms, regardless of whether you have actually read them. We have no obligation to notify you of any modification by email, in-app message, banner, or any other means. If you do not agree to any modification, your sole remedy is to immediately cease all access to and use of the service.
20. Individual Disputes Only; No Class Actions
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the service shall be resolved solely on an individual basis, and you waive any right to participate as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated, or representative action or proceeding against us. No claim brought by you may be joined or consolidated with any claim of any other person without our prior written consent.
21. Feedback
Any rating, review, comment, suggestion, or other content you submit to us in any form (including via in-app review popups, prompts, or surveys) ("Feedback") is licensed to us as follows. You grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid-up, transferable, and sublicensable licence to use, copy, modify, create derivative works of, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, and otherwise exploit such Feedback for any purpose, commercial or otherwise, in any medium now known or hereafter developed, without compensation, attribution, or further obligation to you. You waive any moral rights in such Feedback to the maximum extent permitted by law. You represent and warrant that (i) you own or have all necessary rights to grant this licence; (ii) the Feedback does not violate any law and does not infringe, misappropriate, or otherwise violate any intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other right of any person; and (iii) the Feedback is not defamatory, unlawful, threatening, harassing, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
22. Assignment
We may assign, transfer, sublicense, delegate, or otherwise dispose of any of our rights or obligations under these Terms, in whole or in part, at any time, with or without notice to you, including without limitation in connection with any merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or change of control. You may not assign, transfer, sublicense, or delegate any of your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent, and any purported assignment without such consent is void.
23. Electronic Communications
You consent to receive all communications, agreements, notices, disclosures, and other documents from us in electronic form, including by email to your registered email address, by display within the service, by posting to our website, or by any other electronic means we choose. Any such electronic communication shall be deemed effective and constitute valid service of notice for all legal purposes, and shall satisfy any legal requirement that any such communication be in writing or signed. You acknowledge and agree that you have the necessary technical means to receive, access, and retain such electronic communications.
24. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the federal laws of Canada and the laws of the Province of British Columbia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
Informal resolution first: Before commencing any formal proceeding, you must contact us at support@cstq.ca and allow at least 30 days for the matter to be resolved.
25. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms at any time shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or of any other provision. A waiver of any term will be effective only if made in writing.
26. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
